Byron Generating Station To Host Community Open House
Byron Generating Station will host a Community Open House on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. to discuss plant operations and the station’s used fuel management and storage program.

The event will be held at the station’s training center located at 4450 N. German Church Road, about four miles south of Byron.
“This is a great opportunity for our friends and neighbors to visit with station employees and learn what they do at the facility,” said Byron Station Vice President Dan Enright. “Our workers can answer any questions you might have about how we generate safe, reliable low-cost energy for the community.”
Employees will provide general information about station operations, environmental awareness, security, safety and nuclear power. In addition, Exelon technical experts will share detailed information about the station’s used fuel management and storage program. A highlight of the day will allow visitors the chance to see the storage containers and where they will be located on station property.
Area residents will also be able to tour the station’s control room simulator located in the training facility, which is where operator training is conducted.
Residents who have questions about the event or general questions about Byron Station and its outreach program can call (815) 406-3554.
Due to security restrictions, the open house is limited to our training center. It will not include a tour inside the plant.
