On February 23, 2002, Lottie Flowers was discovered lying in the middle of the living room of the house she shared with her husband, Davey. The day she died of multiple stab wounds.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Chief Kurt Ditzler says, “When medical personnel arrived she was still conscious, but died at the hospital after arriving.”

Lottie Flowers was preparing food for a church dinner that evening when the unknown killer or killers attacked. Chief Ditzler says its possible that from the time of the attack to the time of the discovery by her husband, only a few minutes had passed.

Ditzler says, “He could have scared the assailants away when he arrived home. The family says it's uncommon for her to open the door to strangers, but she did not lock the doors.”

So there was no forced entry and the family says nothing is missing except peace of mind and the knowledge that someone will pay for this senseless killing.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department has received tips on the case, but nothing solid. If you know anything about the murder of Lottie Flowers, contact the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department or Crimestoppers. Your information could be worth a cash reward.
