Drivers along Broadway Street Saturday afternoon were greeted with an 18-wheel mess.
A tractor-trailer slammed into the Broadway Bridge at 12th Street and became pinned underneath. Police had to close part of the street while wreckers tried to remove the truck.
Police say the semi driver disregarded a posted height sign when he drove under the viaduct. No structural problems were found with the bridge, but it took crews more than three hours to remove the vehicle.
The driver is being sited for negligent driving and disobeying a sign. There were no injuries.
