'Bank On Rockford' Offers Free, Low-Cost Banking
For those who don't have a bank account or can't afford one, a new program in Rockford is easing the process.

'Bank on Rockford' officially launched today. The program provides free banking services to the under-served and low-income communities.
The goal is to sign-up 1,000 Rockford residents for free or low-cost checking accounts in the next year.
Rockford is the first city to participate in the state program.
Financial Institutions offering free or low-cost accounts include the following:
- Alpine Bank
- AMCORE Bank
- Bank of America
- Chase
- Fifth Third Bank
- First Northern Credit Union
- Generations Credit Union
- MembersAlliance Credit Union
- Riverside Community Bank
- Rockford Bank & Trust Company
- Stillman Bank
- US Bank
Financial education partners offering free money management classes:
- Careers, Etc.
- Family Credit Management Services
- Rockford Area Affordable Housing Coalition
- Rockford Rescue Mission
- University of Illinois Extension
