The practice of tongue piercing has become increasingly fashionable, but doctors say it’s become increasingly dangerous.

That’s why they pushed for a new law and effective today, it requires parents to know the risks before their children get tongue piercing.

Doctors say piercing always carries a risk of infection, but the risk is greater because of the closeness to the airway. Doctors say some infections can be deadly

The aim of the new law is increased awareness will teach parents their children are putting not just their oral health at risk, but also their general health.
