Two candidates in the U.S. Senate race in Illinois used the birthday of Abraham Lincoln to vow to make integrity a top issue.

Democratic State Comptroller Dan Hynes and Republican Andrew McKenna Junior appeared separately in Springfield this morning and both evoked the legacy of Honest Abe.

McKenna says he's developed a four-part ethics plan that he wants all candidates to abide by. He says Illinois has developed a reputation for corruption and something needs to be done to return voters' faith in the process.

Hynes kicked off a three-day bus tour that left Springfield Thursday and will hit 21 counties in central and southern Illinois. He's calling the tour the Drive to Make America Work Again.

Hynes says President Bush's economic plan doesn't work and he has better ideas to keep jobs in America.
