A mayor's task force is being tight lipped about what companies want a shot at designing and building Rockford's first Convention Center.
Wednesday at 2 p.m. was the deadline for companies to submit letters of interest to the task force. Two companies have already made public proposals, but due the competitive nature of the project, the task force is not releasing company names or even the number of responses.
Members say it's an important step for the city and they're curious to see how interested the private sector is in the project. The task force will review all of the letters of interest at a meeting next week.
