The man accused of killing a Boone County resident appeared in court Wednesday.

Richard Griffin had a preliminary hearing in a Boone County court where he was accused of first-degree murder.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office believes Griffin beat 71-year-old Eugene Mikrut to death at his Capron residence on February 14.

Griffin has a preliminary hearing March 30 in Boone County. He's being held until then on a $1 million cash bond.
