The grant will fund the construction of sidewalks at two of Harlem School District's elementary schools in Machesney Park. The money will also pay for intersection improvements, pavement markings, raised crosswalks, solar powered flashing lights and bike racks at the schools.
The Illinois Department of of Transportation "Safe Routes to Schools" program provided the money for the projects.
