According to the latest Copley news service poll, 53 percent of Illinoisans would support an increase in taxes if it funded education.

The poll also found that 61 percent of those surveyed believe that primary and secondary education is underfunded in Illinois.

State school superintendent Robert Schiller says the poll proves that Illinoisans are concerned about where funding cuts are hurting schools and children.
