Rockford residents had their first chance tonight to hear the County's plea for a one-cent sales tax hike in order to pay for a new jail.
It was supposed to answer questions and concerns residents have about the new jail.
Thursday night’s meeting only drew a handful of people. And of the people it did draw most of them left midway during the program.
The problem, people said, was that they weren't allowed to have an open dialogue, instead they had to write down what they wanted asked; most of their questions weren't answered the way they wanted.
Now the county will get another chance on Aug. 13 to hear the concerns residents have.
That meeting will be held at Hononegah High School. Residents hope this meeting will include some dialogue between themselves and council members and also bring out more than just committee members in attendance.
