The Rockton Police Department is offering a $500 reward to help snag the suspect or suspects responsible for the marking-up of public property.
The shelter house at Settlers Park in Rockton is a popular hangout for kids, but now the shelter has been vandalized with graffiti. Multiple colors of paint can be seen on the building and along the sidewalk surrounding the property. Authorities say the vandals also damaged electrical outlets and doors bringing the estimated damage total to nearly three thousand dollars.
Sgt. Dean Camacho says, "Of course with the warm weather, and the kids hanging out more and that's what the shelter is for. unfortunately there's a few bad apples that have created the issue."
The Rockton Police department is asking anyone with information to call a Rockton Police special tip line at 815.624.6888 or the Rockford Area Crimestoppers at 815.968.7867. Callers do not have to give their name.
