Pilot
The House Wednesday overwhelmingly passed a measure calling for airline pilots to be armed in the cockpit.
Despite white house opposition, the legislation was approved with a vote of 310-113. Passage in the Senate is less certain.
As part of the anti-terror bill, some 70,000 airline pilots would be allowed to bear arms after undergoing extensive training.
The issue of armed pilots came about as a direct result of the Sept. 11 attacks.
