Money to fund a study on commuter rail service finally arrives to the stateline.
A federal grant of $198,000 will be used to look at extending Metra to the Belvidere area. With the money in hand, stateline leaders are close to selecting a company to perform the study.
In early January, three finalists will be interviewed and a decision should be made by February.
