The Obama administration is signaling it could soften its stance on the public option of its health care reform plan.

The White House says its willing to consider health care co-ops run by non profit groups or individual states.. but not the federal government. The co-ops woulds sell insurance in competition with private insurers . Obama backed a government run program to cover the over 50 million people that are uninsured. But Local health care expert Dr. Bill Gorski believes the public option was a large part of the problem in many peoples eyes.

"There is so much emotion about this right now and I understand it. I share the same concerns whether at the end of the day the funding and the coverage turns out to be as good as the Gov't option that's something I can't speak to."

Republicans have long said a public option would have unfair advantages that would drive private insurers out of business. But critics believe co-ops would not be genuine public options for health insurance.
