Janesville is the latest city to consider leashing cats.
An ordinance is to be introduced at Monday’s city council meeting that requires cat owners to restrain the animals on their property and keep them under their control elsewhere.
A violation would be prosecuted if there were a complaint. Passage would put cats on par with dogs, which are not allowed to run at large.
A public hearing is scheduled in Janesville January 12.
