If you're waiting to send out holiday cards and packages you're not alone. December 15th is the biggest mailing day of the year, and the push is on to get to the post office.

The lines are already forming at the post office as customers try to get gifts out on time. But not only is timing key to getting your gifts to their destination, so is packaging.

Glass items should be shipped in bubble wrap. Remember to remove batteries from toys before you package them. If you're shipping out perishable items make sure you use priority or express mail.

The Rockford Post Office has extended its business hours for the holiday season. The weekends of December 13th and 20th the Harrison Ave and Windsor Street locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
