The federal government is reportedly taking action against a possible terrorist threat of unleashing smallpox in America.

Now more people could be getting protected against a possible attack.

Hundreds of thousands of emergency and health care workers could be getting smallpox vaccinations.

The disease was thought to have been wiped out, but now there are fears of a terrorist attack involving the virus.

The Bush Administration is considering vaccinating more than 500,000 people who would be on the front line of such an attack.

That goes well beyond the ten to 20,000 immunizations recommended last month by an advisory committee.

Health and human services Secretary Tommy Thompson is expected to make a decision by the end of the month whether or not to administer the vaccine.
