Rockford police are still searching for the man who shot and killed 26-year-old Michael Lindsey.

Police say the shooting happened around two thirty at the fairgrounds housing projects on west School Street.

According to witnesses, Lindsey was talking to some friends when an unidentified man approached him and shot him three times in his chest. Lindsey was taken to Rockford memorial hospital where he was pronounced dead around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police are still searching for the killer who is described as a black man n his early 20's wearing blue jean shorts and a white shirt. And police say that after he shot his victim he fled on foot west on School Street.

Rockford police say this murder brings the number of homicides this year to 13.
