Charter’s Stateline Customers Get Four More HD Channels

SOUTH BELOIT, ILLINOIS -- August 3, 2009 -- Charter Communications continues to expand its high-definition (HD) offerings to customers in the Stateline area. Beginning August 5, Charter customers in the Winnebago County area will have four more channels in high-definition: Food Network, HGTV, MLB Network and USA Network.
"Charter has made a significant investment in our technology and is committed to bringing our Stateline customers popular high-definition channels like these we are adding August 5th,” said Lisa Washa, Vice-President and General Manager for Charter. “We are pleased to be growing our high-definition on demand library for customers, giving them a great viewing experience and great value.”
Charter offers over 400 HD choices at any one time, including all major network broadcast stations, sports and premium channels, as well as Charter-On Demand HD.
New HD channels available in the Stateline area include:
USA HD (Channel 628): USA Network is the cable television leader in original series and home to the best in blockbuster theatrical films, acquired television series and entertainment events. USA Network original programming, now in HD, includes “Royal Pains,” “Burn Notice,” “In Plain Sight,” "Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Psych,” “Monk” and "WWE Monday Night RAW."
HGTV HD (Channel 629) and Food Network HD (Channel 630): Devoted fans of programs such as HGTV’s House Hunters and For Rent, and Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and Chopped may now enjoy these popular programs in high definition quality.
MLB NETWORK HD (Channel 666): MLB Network launched on January 1, 2009 as the largest debut in cable television history and is currently available in approximately 53 million cable and satellite homes. Featuring live games, original programming, highlights, classic games, and coverage of a variety of baseball events, MLB Network will now be viewed by Charter customers in HD in addition to SD.
Charter will also add Rockford-area broadcast station WTVO-DT2 My Network to its lineup on Channels 16 and 969. Five new shopping channels will be added to the lineup, located on Channels 954, 955, 956, 957, and 958. Along with these new channel additions, Charter will also be dropping discontinuing the carriage of WBUW Madison’s CW (Channel 2) and My Network TVW (Channel 16).
Other channel moves will include moving C-SPAN from Channel 19 to Channel 12. A letter was mailed to all Charter customers listing specific channel relocations in their areas. Channel line ups are also available on charter.com.
