A Chance to Find the Facts

School board president Nancy Kalchbrenner called this emergency meeting Sunday. When the district was notified on Friday of an ongoing federal investigation, speculations of what this entailed started running ramped.

On Friday some of the district's servers including the e-mail and another server were taken off line. Over the weekend the school district and federal authorities worked to restore the computer services and that has now been restored. Interim superintendent Dr. Ellen Bueschel was out of town over the weekend. Monday Dr. Bueshel issued a statement asking the public to not draw any conclusions just yet about why PCs and laptops have been secured.

”We are informed that the investigation does not involve any activity or conduct of the school district, but may involve unauthorized conduct by district employees. No conclusions can or should be reached at this time. Both the U.S. Attorney's Office and our local FBI office cannot confirm or deny any investigation of the district, but they will be the ones to release what if anything becomes of the investigation.
