A demand from the E-P-A will shut down nearly 40 Loves Park wells this summer.
Monday night, Loves Park Alderman approved a four-hundred thousand dollar project that will replace 39 wells near Sand Park Pool with city water. The construction plan comes after city leaders gave final approval to an ordinance preventing the use of ground water to be used as a source for drinking and bathing water. Sand Park Pool is the former location of the city's landfill site which is why the EPA has stepped in.
"The bad products under there have not moved so we will continue monitor that of course” Said Loves Park Mayor , Darryl Lindberg ..”By taking these private wells out of the picture, and hooking people up to city water, residents can be perfectly safe " he said.
