4th and 5th Grade Winners of CherryVale Mall & Edgebrook Art Contest Announced

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – CherryVale Mall and Edgebrook have announced the winners of the combined art contest for 4th and 5th graders.

4th grade winners for each category are as follows (winners must be accompanied by their parent with identification to pick up their prize at The Frame Shoppe in Edgebrook--winners can begin picking up prizes next Tuesday, June 11):

Most Detailed: First Prize—Rachel Heal, from St. Paul Lutheran School-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid, Second Prize—Aspire Redmond, from St. Paul Lutheran School-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid.

Most Original: First Prize—Ruby Garey, from St. Paul Lutheran School-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid, Second Prize-Bella Schmid, from St. Paul Lutheran School-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid.

Most Community Pride: First Prize—Matthew Korcek, from Rockford Lutheran Academy-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid, Second Prize-Shi’Shonti Williams, from King School-teacher is Mrs. Ruhl.

Most Inventive: First Prize—Leah Esparza from Rockford Lutheran Academy-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid, Second Prize—Chris Kellogg, from Rockford Lutheran Academy-Art teacher is Mrs. Schmid.

5th grade winners for each category are as follows (winner must be accompanied by their parent with identification to pick up their prize at the Customer Service Booth at center court of CherryVale Mall--winners can begin picking up their prizes next Tuesday, June 11):

Most Detailed: First Prize—Bryant Cambron from Nashold Elementary-teacher is Brenda Goff, Second Prize—Martin Lozano, from Nashold Elementary-teacher is Brenda Goff.

Most Original: First Prize—Rachel Stevens, from Haskell Elementary-teacher is Mrs. Caballero, Second Prize-Stephanie Bautista, from the ASAP RPS program (contact-Maggie Kempel) and Marsh School-teacher is Tasha Neisewander.

Most Community Pride: First Prize-Isabella Dittman, from Nashold Elementary-teacher is Brenda Goff; Second Prize—Melanie Ortiz, from Nashold Elementary-teacher is Brenda Goff.

Most Inventive: First Prize--Abbey Temple from St. Paul Lutheran-teacher is Mrs Freudenberg, Art Teacher is Mrs. Schmid, Second Prize—Alexis Switzer, from the ASAP RPS program-contact is Maggie Kemple and Whitehead Elementary-teacher is Mrs Armato and Miss Katie.

Along with this art contest, several prize sponsors participated in providing prizes so that the overall first prize package for EACH winner is valued at about $400 and the second place prize package is valued for EACH winner at about $200!

The prize packages will contain some of the following prizes from our prize sponsors and will be awarded in a grab-bag fashion to the winners: Rockford Lutheran Academy-camp, GQ Sports-gift certificate, Cinnabon-gift card, Corner Store-full size candy bar, The Ground Up—bowling passes, Sbarro’s Pizza-combo meal coupon, Auntie Anne’s/Quencher Smoothies—coupon for either a pretzel or smoothie, BMO Harris Bank/Ice Hogs or Harlem Globetrotters-prize package, Discovery Center-tickets, Egg Harbor-gift certificates, Infinitely Sweet-gift certificates, Midway Village-tickets, Rockford Aviators-tickets, Rockford Park District-passes, Rockford Symphony-family passes, Tinker Swiss Cottage-tickets, Womanspace-camp and The Salvation Army-Snoopy Bell Ringers.
