An alleged child pornographer is in custody of Belvidere Police.

43-year-old Carlos Witherington has been charged with eight child pornography counts. These include making and possessing the material. A two-week investigation led Belvidere Police to search Witherington's home in the 1200 block of South State Street. Authorities seized crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, a video camera, CD's and other video equipment.

Police are still trying to pinpoint alleged victims who, according to police, are clearly under the age of 13 and are believed to be from Belvidere. Witherington is in the Boone County Jail being held on $1 million bond. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
