Police say it could have been a lot worse had it not been for the actions of two Rockford kids.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning a man broke into this house at 1019 north Horsemen through a dining room window.
An 11-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy and a two-year-old boy were all sleeping in a bedroom on the first floor. Police say the man attempted to pull down the girl's shorts.
That's when the girl woke up and began screaming.
The man then grabbed the two-year-old. The kids fought back punching and kicking the man until he fled through a back door.
The suspect is described as a black man in his teens approximately 5’9” wearing a black t-shirt and blue jean shorts.
