A delegation of Illinois Health and Policy officials will travel to Canada Tuesday to evaluate its prescription drug system.
The trip is part of a study Gov. Rod Blagojevich requested. He wants to determine the merits of letting state employees and senior citizens buy drugs from Canadian companies to cut state medical costs.
Blagojevich last month proposed that Illinois should consider importing drugs from Canada to take advantage of much lower prices there.
But federal law prevents bringing foreign drugs into the country.
