This fish kill shows that a bloated bureacracy which is supposed to be protecting our environment and our citizens is incompetent. Samples taken days after the accident, rather than hours. Rivers left open with people recreating, after massive reports were received. Heads should be rolling in IEPA and DNR. Close our parks, heck no, how about laying off the numbskulls who failed to do their job and protect the public. If this had been a terrorist attack we could be looking at 1000s of dead people before these people had a clue. No fish are being caught. We had the midwest's richest fishery, and it is a desert now, and these fools are asking for a tax increase because of a 9 billion deficit, and nobody protects the public. shameful, disgraceful, people in DNR who received these reports and failed to take timely samples should find other work. We want answers who failed to do what they were suppose to do.......identify, warn, protect....not fall asleep on the job!

Who ever is responsible needs to pay! This is the worst thing Ive seen. What ever it was ruined my family summers for many years! I want to know who, and what did this! There won't be any fish left! Ive went down to see how bad it was, and it's bad. I think every thing is DEAD! Even the water fowl are acting odd! I really feel bad for the people that own bait shops cause they will be going out of business before long.

I have been watching the river and watching the continuous flow of dead fish down the river.I cannot believe how many fish have died. Thousands of fish. Our river will not recover from this for years. If this is from the train derailment hopefully fish will be restocked into the river.

We spotted hundreds of dead fish in Dixon just south of the dam. We flagged down a conservation officer and he filed a report.
