Freeport Storm Damage
Storms knocked down tree limbs, blocking off some major streets and front yards. And even struck the steeple of a local church.

"I woke up and looked out my front window and there's a tree laying in my front yard," Shawn Page said.
Turning Page's Lincoln Boulevard home into a demolition zone as crews sawed through part of a large tree limb, taken by lightning.
"Something definitely interesting to wake up to, kinds of gets you out bed in the morning," Page said.
A rude awakening for many Freeport residents Friday morning, viewing the aftermath of severe storms.
"When it first started it was just raining. Then it got real quiet. Then all of a sudden this big boom came," Vanessa Brown said.
A big boom snapping this tree limb onto East Galena Avenue outside Brown's apartment building.
She's had previous storm damage here. But this time, she's losing a summer treasure.
"This is our shade tree. In the summer we always sit under there, play cards. Now we don't have our shade tree anymore," Brown said.
Downtown Freeport wasn't spared either.
This is video shot by neighbor after a lightning strike to the steeple at Grace Episcopal Church.
"I was taking the Sunday bulletin, walking through the church up to the alter and heard loud crash," Church Secretary Connie Olson said.
Firefighters knocked out a small blaze to the steeple within minutes as onlookers like Olson swallowed a big scare.
"I thank the Lord that it was only the steeple and no one was injured.
We will definitely be repairing it and put up a lightning rod so it doesn't happen again," Olson said.
We're told that steeple at Grace Episcopal Church is more than a hundred years old.
Church leaders also say services will be on as normal this Sunday. They'll just have to close off one entrance area with some minor water damage.
