Black Bear Near Stockton
A Stockton man snapped this picture of a black bear this afternoon, just north of town near Chelsea Road & Illinois Route 78. Earlier, the Jo Daviess County Sheriff warned residents to be cautious. Posted: 3:22 PM Jun 18, 2009 |

The DNR should put a tracking collar on it and keep track of it's wonderings. That way farmers would be warned of it's location and keep new born livestock safe. Care should be taken when you hear a clunk of a garbage can at night - it might not be a coon. Be glad it's just a bear, not a pack of wolves.

Leave it alone, it's a black bear, it won't hurt you. Black bears were common in Illinois 200 years ago before white man decimated them.
