ROCKFORD- for Dennis Braun, bite marks are more than just a physical wound. After being attacked by a pitbull on Friday, they're a constant reminder of what happened.

" It's terrifying, one minute your walking down the street and the next minute your fighting for your life. " said Braun

Last week, Braun was walking down Bildhal Street in Rockford when he says his arm was nearly ripped off by a neighborhood dog. He’s now filing a lawsuit against the alleged owners of the pitbull.

“I feel bad that he was attacked by a random dog walking down the street but, I also feel like we are being attacked because the dog matches the description of ours " said Brian Helberg

Helberg says his pitbulls were inside of his home at the time of the attack and that other neighborhood dogs look similar to his.

" The dog that they are claiming to be my pitbull would be our 6 month old puppy. There is no way she can do that kind of damage.” Said Helberg

Braun says county investigators are helping him search for the dog and that he hopes it can be found soon to prevent another attack”

“An innocent civilian walking down the street doesn't need that, I didn’t need this. " said Braun
