An elderly Rockford man is recovering tonight after getting run over by his own tractor.
The 83-year-old victim was airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital just after 3:30 today. The accident happened at his home in the 56-hundred block of Clikeman Road. That's near Latham and Elmood. First responders say the victim didn't realize his tractor was in gear when he went to start it from the ground. That's when he was run over by the tractor and planter.
Authorities say they don't know the victim's condition at this time. They say he was alert and breathing just prior to being transported.
