Seventeen people died as a result of car crashes during the four-day holiday weekend.
That's down from 19 deaths last year. Police attribute the decline to stepped up efforts by local, county and state law enforcement agencies.
In addition to the Click It or Ticket campaign, troopers were also assigned to more than 100 safety belt enforcement zones throughout the state.
