A major drug bust in Rockford. Nearly 500 pounds of pot seized and six men arrested.
An agent at the Rockford drug enforcement agency says the arrests were made in the parking lot of the McDonald's on 11th Street.
The agent in charge says the suspects were in the process of selling the marijuana. It was all found in the back end of a GMC Sierra.
Six men arrested on the spot. One from Beloit, the others from out west.
Adancano Lopez from Beloit , Israel Acevedo and Jose Dejesus Hernandez both from Yakima, Washington are in custody.
Also busted is Jose Salvidar Espinoza from California , Ignacio Sanchez Alvarez. Also from Yakima and Jose Lupercio from Washington State. All six suspects range in age from 22 to 30 years old.
All have been charged with possession with intent to deliver. Bond is set at 3-hundred thousand dollars per person. The DEA agent estimates the street value of the 470 pounds of marijuana to be around 3-hundred thousand dollars.
