Earlier Tuesday morning, the Golden Apple Foundation announced it will now go beyond the Rockford school district and honor teachers throughout Winnebago County.

A total of 64 public schools will be eligible this year. This is all part of a new system that will encompass the entire region for Golden Apple Awards.

Five teachers will ultimately be selected to receive the Golden Apple Award, 23 WIFR proudly sponsors the awards.
