Survivors of breast cancer are celebrating a great victory tonight. Together, they joined families of breast cancer victims and supporters of breast cancer awareness for the American Cancer Society's 5th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
Participants gathered for the free, non-competitive walk at Martin Memorial Park in Loves Park this morning. The event raised $150,000. Survivors signed a wall of hope as a tribute to those who lost their battle against the disease.
"I found out that I had breast cancer by a mammogram and I really truly urge every woman out there to get a mammogram for early detection," says breast cancer survivor Gayle Ciembronowicz.
This year's walk raised $30,000 more than last year's.
