The company has announced the closing of its Rockford plant, but workers gathered outside the plant Tuesday to gain support for joining a union.

Currently, Textron employees are not part of a union, but they're hoping to change that, perhaps joining the local UAW.

One benefit of joining a union could be better severance packages once the plant closes as well as retraining and relocating possibilities.
