The Illinois State Police kept busy this weekend cracking down on careless drivers througout Winnebago County.
On Saturday, troopers searched 236 cars and made 24 arests in a Roadside Safety Check.
The majority of arrests were uninsured drivers. Half a dozen had drivers license offenses, and one person was arrested for driving under the influence.
State police say these patrols will happen at least once a month to save lives by taking DUI offenders off the road.

"..taking DUI offenders off the road." Who are they kidding? 236 cars stopped, 24 arrests, and only ONE DUI! Looks like road blocks and safety checks don't work very well in catching drunks.
