On Wednesday at 6:56 AM Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a one-vehicle accident with injuries in the 4700 Blk of N. Mt. Morris Rd.

After an investigation at the scene Deputies determined that Larry D. Wesley, age 61 of rural Leaf River, had been driving his vehicle northbound on Mt. Morris Rd when he crossed through the east ditch and into a field.

The Deputies determined that Wesley continued northbound in the field, driving through a wire fence, before returning to the roadway and crossing into the west ditch. In the west ditch the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its side.

He was later taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Deputies later learned that Wesley was pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
