Jo Daviess County Sheriff Brian Melton and the Illinois State Police report the discovery of the body of Douglas Paul Maring during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 16, 2006.

In the late hours of Friday, September 15, 2006, the owner of a residence in rural Galena called the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reporting a vehicle parked near his residence that matched the description of the stolen olive/light green 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.

Upon investigation, the stolen 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was recovered and Maring’s body was found in a farm building at the rural Galena residence.

Maring was wanted for First Degree Murder in the death of his 8-year-old adopted son, Anthony Maring, which occurred on Wednesday, September 13, 2006.
