Mayor Ron Williams has proclaimed tomorrow a day of fasting and prayer. And he's planning a public religious service Thursday night.
Williams is trying to convince the Bemis Company of Minneapolis not to proceed with plans to close a local packaging factory.
The move would leave 115 people out of work.
The mayor says his efforts to persuade Bemis to keep the plant open have failed. And he says there's nothing wrong in ``asking the man upstairs'' to step in.
He's encouraging people to pray for help keeping the plant open. And he says they should fast by either giving up food, or something else they enjoy, like a favorite television program.
