Sixty-year-old Khaled Abdel-Latif Dumeisi of suburban Oak Lawn was arrested a week ago.

Federal prosecutors charged him with spying on, and conspiring to spy on, Iraqi opposition leaders as an unregistered agent of Saddam Hussein's government.

He was also charged with violating a U.S. law that requires agents of foreign governments to register.

A federal indictment returned today essentially repeats those charges while adding two perjury accusations.

Dumeisi is being held at Chicago's e Metropolitan Correctional Center.
