New plans to revitalize the Amerock building in downtown Rockford might not include low-income housing.
The Wisconsin developer has recently come under fire. Members of the community say they feel developing the building into a low-income loft complex would damage efforts to revitalize the downtown area.
Now, the city and developers are looking for alternative funding that could include a less restrictive low-income tax credit.
Another idea is to sell bonds through downtown's tax incremental finance district.
