We can expect more traffic congestion at Alpine Road and Illinois 173 this week. Road construction and relocation of traffic signals at Alpine and IL 173 is expected to last three days.
Machesney Park crews will start relocating traffic signals. The work is part of the widening and reconstruction of Alpine Road north of 173 that started last fall.
The improvements are being done in anticipation of a shopping center that is expected to open later this month. The work on the traffic lights will last for three days, weather permitting!
Flaggers will help manage the traffic flow at the intersection.
