Winnebago County Disaster Relief Actions

The Emergency Services Disaster Agency has designated a corridor of unincorporated Winnebago County hardest hit by Saturday morning’s storm. The storm damage northern border is from Route 173, Cemetery Rd to Trask Bridge Rd.

The southern border is north of Blackhawk Rd., Fitzgerald Rd., up Meridian Rd. to Cunningham. The storm damage area stretches west to east across the County. Residents in those areas may bring storm damage only to the right of way.

Winnebago County and Township Highway Departments will dispose of the storm debris. For those who live north or south of the affected area, you can bring your storm debris to one of three drop-off locations:

  • Deer Run Forest Preserve on River Rd. in Cherry Valley
  • Pecatonica River Forest Preserve on Brick School Rd.
  • Ace of Diamonds at S. Main and the Rock River

The Winnebago County Health Department has also established a hotline for anybody with questions regarding health issues. Questions on food spoilage, bacteria, water safety, respiratory problems can be answered at 720-4242 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
