North Carolina Teen Obsessed with Columbine Massacre

School shooting suspect says he's obsessed with Columbine massacre
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) -- A North Carolina teenager accused of killing his father and wounding two high school students says he's been obsessed for years with the Columbine school massacre.

Alvaro Castillo even mentioned the Colorado school shootings when he arrived for his first court appearance. When asked why he fixated on the 1999 attack, Castillo said he didn't know.

Authorities say the 19-year-old had pipe bombs and weapons in his van. And the sheriff says he told deputies who arrested him yesterday that he'd killed his father, whose body was found later in their home.

A student tells The News and Observer the shooter wore a black hat, black trench coat and black sunglasses. And she says he jumped from the minivan, set off firecrackers, shot at car tires and hit a school window.

Castillo is being held without bond on murder and assault charges.
