Clinton: Nation May Need Affirmative Action for Years to Come

Clinton was in Chicago to speak at the annual convention of Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

Clinton says the policies of the Bush administration make it more likely affirmative action will be needed well beyond the 25 years mentioned in yesterday's Supreme Court decision allowing consideration of race in college admissions.

The former president says the tax cuts passed under the Bush administration will be paid for by cuts in education, health care for families and the elimination of programs to hire more police officers.

He says all of that will increase the need for affirmative action far into the future
