Governors Unite To Block National Guard Changes

The nation's governors are joining forces to block a proposal that could change the future of the National Guard. President Bush wants to federalize the National Guard during emergencies. This means National Guard members could be sent to any state without the consent of the governor. Illinois Governor Blagojevich opposes the idea saying it threatens the safety of each state. The governors of all 50 states signed the letter to president.
