Two major road construction projects began in Rockford Monday. They may be creating some major traffic headaches. Crews began work on the long-awaited Harrison Avenue project today. The first step is to put up temporary traffic lights at Alpine and Harrison. According to the Department of Public Works, drivers will start to notice construction starting Wednesday. That's when crews will start removing the median which will allow workers to close one lane in each direction.
