The Carlyle Brewing Company is marking a successful run in Rockford's river district Monday night with the unveiling of their recent expansion. They are calling the expansion "phase two" and it includes several new elements.

A regulation size shuffle board as well as a European bar billiards table will provide additional recreation opportunities. Additional seating has been constructed allowing room for an additional 35 to 40 people.

Employees say the expansion is just another indicator of the brewery's booming business, which just added an outdoor beer garden in 2006.

When the brewing company began business in may of 2003 the owner, Don Carlyle says everyone tried to discourage his selection of a downtown location. He says he's glad he didn't listen to them. Carlyle says he's thankful to his patron's for helping to prove that downtown rockford is alive, healthy and doing well.

The brewing company currently employs 12 people, and additional jobs may soon be added to help accomodate the expected increase in business.
