The scene here at Target, still a busy one at the check out lines here. They've been ringing up shoppers since Six o'clock Friday morning. But some folks around the Stateline had an even earlier start.
Peggy Elliot was back at it again, starting her black Friday shopping at 5:30 this morning.
And the cart was still rolling about seven hours later when we found her at this Target store, a little low on gas.
"I'm feeling exhausted. I hosted Thanksgiving last night. We were up until 1 o'clock," Peggy Elliot said.
But she's still happy to be out shopping, along with thousands of others in the Stateline. Packing parking lots and filling the aisles on a hunt for big Black Friday bargains.
"Got some good deals on MP3's, electronic stuff, you know, gift cards back," Elliot said.
Other shoppers like Sheryl Casey of Rochelle found some good deals too.
"We were just at Michaels and they had a really good sales there. 25 percent off your whole purchase," Casey said.
There was even some welcome relief at the check out line.
"Have a nice day," a Target cashier said.
Making it easier to do that.
"We haven't had to wait very long, it's been pretty quick. We used to stratagize before where she'd stand in line and stuff and we haven't had to do that this year," Casey said.
Casey and her sister in law also started shopping at 5:30 this morning . They say it's about having the right attitude.
"Just go to have fun and it's company and it's just fun for us to do this together, it's your mindset," Casey said.
As for the deals out there, one shopper told 23 News that she noticed better ones this year compared to last year. While another shopper said they varied from city to city.
The name Black Friday refers to retailers, hoping to get their bottom line in the black during the holiday shopping season.
One of the Target managers says the company always counts on this day for a big boost to their budget.

Who says the shopping done on that day is for Christmas? I always shop on Black Friday because of the deals. I wait for that day to go clothes shopping for my child, and my husband has a birthday this week. So is this still senseless? I think it's pretty smart, maybe you shouldn't judge!
